A notable aspect of ‘cut-up’ is the absence of all binary critical view -ie-
good/bad, weak/strong, beautiful/ugly, imaginative/pedestrian -etc.
The consequence is that judgment remains subjective as to its value or worthiness and who determines. In the case of publishing, not much different than in the editorial domain of MFA work’s growing popularity, and the institution’s ever larger funding & support for the non traditional style, drawing new blood to feed the proliferating programs growing like wildfire. Personally, I’ve been a very long time admirer of Burroughs’s novels, considering a few of them among the greatest works ever written

I’ve always considered William S. Burroughs to be one of my favorite writers, and one of the writers I’ve most wanted to imitate. I do cut-ups myself, but I dream of being able to do cut-ups as good as these. I really do think they’re incredible. My favorite is “FROM SAN DIEGO UP TO MAINE.” Pure genius!

The “From Sandiego up to Maine”, cut up article is really interesting. Its almost like the article was cut open to look at it’s roots and true meaning.

I am a great fan of Burroughs and Gysin….I´m using the cut-up technique words and paintings…..its really amazing what can come out of it.
