Rupert Croft-Cooke!! a nice connection.

"He lived in Morocco for fifteen years, from 1953 to 1968......"
wrote "......non-fiction books on such diverse topics as Buffalo Bill, Oscar Wilde, Lord Alfred Douglas, Victorian writers, criminals, the circus,

I remember reading this piece in Esquire, September/October 1964. I was astonished to find the work of WSB in such a place. Really dug the picture of Father & Son on one of the pages.

Reading it again here and now, for me it resonates with many atmospheres, passages and scenes in the the first Covent Garden Edition of "Port Of Saints" - 1973, and a wee bit with "The Wild Boys" - 1971.

As Mr. Strike notes above, work from this period is explosive!
