Hi Jed, yes, I've read Here to Go, in PDF format, I believe. I'm not huge Gysin fan, either, but have ended up with a bit of his stuff. Why can't the Cohen monograph be excerpted here on RS?

I read the Reader. It is a very good overview. I am not very deep into Gysin to be honest but I really like what Ian gets out of Gysin. He wrote a 100,000 plus word monograph on Ira Cohen that was incredible. We could never get that on the RS which is a shame. Have you read Here to Go 101. Cool book.

I know this a bit off topic, but I was wondering if anyone has read
"Back in No Time," the Gysin Reader? And if so, thoughts? I got a copy and have been reading it randomly. A lot of stuff I've actually read, but there's some stuff I've long wanted to read, like the Naked Lunch script, which is excerpted. It's very thorough. Everything from early stories to his songs, even the permutations.

I find it difficult to read because of the font size. Not sure if it's too small or if my sight is just degraded that much! A bigger font would have made it too big a book perhaps. I admire the breadth of the Reader. It's got excerpts from and complete versions of just about everything Gysin wrote. It's even got the sheet music for some songs and a few, too few, examples of his calligraphy are reproduced. Not sure we needed all 9 pages of I AM THAT I AM, but maybe we do!

My only quibble is that more of his covers or some of the text/calligraphic works could have been added. But really, it's a good place to start for people just starting to read Gysin. I didn't really like his novels, to be honest; well I did, with some reservations, but I've really enjoyed reading the stuff I'd never heard about until now.
