“The vested interests. Time / Life / Fortune is one. The Luce magazines are nothing but control mechanisms. "

Here is a line from NOW magazine Issue 9 1947 edited by George Woodcock, from an article by a Harry Roskolenko, "Letter from Japan" where he talks about the post-war aftermath and Japanese culture.

"Cut off from all foreign sources, Japanese men of letters tell me they are forced to read TIME to find out what has happened to culture outside Japan. Before the war you could buy almost any avant-garde magazine..."

Scarey to realise that the Luce hegemony stretched that far and that early. and was clearly part of the CONTROL imposed on post-Hiro/saki Japan.

(ps I looked upHarry Roskolenko ...he is an under-the-radar Beat)

Nice little number. The idea that the Mayan and Egyptians were dependent on an illiterate population still strikes a chord; look at how the GOVT with their collaborators the MSM engage in group manipulation of the populace every day.
Nice find Reality Studio!

Thank you!

It is very refreshing to read something from the mid-1960s era that identifies the core concerns of William S. Burroughs, the Writer.

1. Language and who and what has a monopolistic agenda for language/media;

2. Pattern recognition and analysis of 'language' in all of its media and power manifestations!

Bravo!
