Thanks for Imajica, Théo. I added it to the page.

I'll bet that we uncover at least a dozen more of these over the coming months. I know of at least three others that I couldn't get the text for. Supposedly Burroughs penned blurbs for:

Eric Mottram, Blood On The Nash Ambassador
Claude Pelieu, Kali Yug Express
Brion Gysin, The Process

Jorge says he also contributed one to the Necronomicon, though I was unable to figure out which edition. Jorge? Anybody?

I think Jorge said it was a Spanish edition

On this website: http://www.librosrevistasventa.com.ar/c ... e-dead.htm There is the quotation by Burroughs:

"Que los secretos de los eones sean liberados. La publicación del NECRONOMICÓN bien puede constituir un hito en la liberación del espíritu humano." WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS

It means, I guess, "Let the secrets from the eones be free. The publication of Necronomicon might well stem the liberation of the human spirit." Well, I'm not sure of my translation as it does not seem nice to me. I guess I'd need Jorge's help.

Apparently, Burroughs wrote the forword to Claude Pélieu's book.

After my careless comment (above) about Burroughs' book reviews being in Adding Machine, I took at look at Eric Shoaf's Collecting William S. Burroughs in Print. Burroughs actually wrote a lot of intros & forewards. Hopefully those will all get collected at some point. They'd make a book in and of themselves.

BTW Eric Shoaf's book is an invaluable resource for fans of Burroughs. It's like an updated version of Maynard & Miles. Right now the book is out of print but you can occasionally find a copy on ebay. Also I spoke with Eric earlier this summer and he told me that he plans to issue a new, updated edition. Hopefully this will really happen because he's done excellent research on the Burroughs bibliography.

Does Eric's book include magazine articles and interviews because I have really wanted to start collecting those. I have been looking for a copy of his book for ages but never had much luck. An updated version would be great.

Eric Shoaf's book contains seven sections:

I Books by Burroughs
II Contributions to Books and Anthologies
III Contributions to Magazines and Journals
IV Articles and Books about WSB
V Misc Burroughs Print Items
VI Related Works
VII Beat Anthologies and Histories

If you go to Amazon, there are two not-new copies of his book available -- for $25 and for $37.06. I'd advise you to snatch these up because on abebooks.com this checklist is selling for $125! Ouch!

Hopefully he'll come out with the updated book. I'll certainly let everyone know if I hear anything.

Certainly you made a very good translation Theo. However I would use "be" instead of stem and would add the word cornerstone: "Let the secrets from the eones be free. The publication of Necronomicon might well be a cornerstone in the liberation of the human spirit." But broadly speaking it seems to me your translation was quite accurate Theo.

I've seen this site before. It bugged me then and it bugs me now. This is exactly what I mean about Burrughs impressions going of the freakin' track.
New rule. No one is allowed to do Burroughs impressions anymore.

I had a friend who used to think it was cool to start reciting bits of the Spare Ass Annie album in a stupid "Burroughs voice". I couldn't tell him to shut the fuck up fast enough. No one should do Burroughs impressions anymore, they're not good and they're not funny and they really piss me off.
