There is a great interview with Carl Weissner about Burroughs, Bukowski, and his own writing. Ballard is also mentioned. The article links to "Death in Paris," published here on RealityStudio, and cites Carl's new book, Manhattan Muffdiver -- a fabulous title.

"And Bukowski is certainly not one of them - he found the beats rather embarrassing, and while in San Francisco raised the pancakes Poetry & Jazz from the baptism, he malocht port as laborers."

Never were more true words spoken. Incomprehensibly.

And this is just superb:

"But stop the drive unit in my lyrics, the constant search for disturbing picture, for the mechanism of tick suddenly, because he just exploded - this is pure Ballard."

Mixture of cut-ups and surrealistic gibberish. Great.

And let me encourage you all once again, if you haven't already, to read Weissner's Death in Paris:

I personally love this text, devoted a lot of time to preparing it for RealityStudio, and am very proud that we have had the opportunity to publish it here.

Weissner was on a German news program this morning to promote Manhattan Muffdiver:

Can you imagine an American news program having a spot on something like this?

Jan Herman writes up Carl Weissner's new book Manhattan Muffdiver in the Huffington Post:

I don't like the fact you're reporting on and promoting these famous people. You're selling out, you swine!

Actually, just having read the opening para or two, something occurs to me. The sentiment is exactly the same as you promulgate (correct word? Maybe, who knows. I like it though) above, about how getting this work mentioned on a mainstream news show would never work.

Hmmmm...

Kunt und Kultur ya bass!!!

In the book there is a piece about a person who runs a Burroughs site...

I wonder why Weissner did choose a small Viennese publisher. I'm sure he could have chosen some of the bigger german publishers too.

Long and interesting video interview with Carl Weissner:

http://artmetropol.tv/mediadetails.php? ... erarische+Übersetzer+CARL+WEISSNER+bei+LATEART.TV

It's over 30 minutes of Weissner reminiscing (in German) about Bukowski, Burroughs, and his own work.
