This I find exceptionally interesting, inspiring and important news; I hope that fellow board members concur.
I was just catching up on the Channel 4 news here in Britain and overheard a report about the 'Annoymous' group and how they had been supporting Wikileaks by revenge hacking attacks on Mastercard, Paypal etc (These companies had frozen their services to Wikileaks for fund transfers etc, in case you hadn't heard). Some 16 year old kid who is a member of the group has just been arrested, the news report said.
There was a clip on the report of an 'Annoymous' video and I thought I heard a snatch of Burroughs' voice in there. I searched You Tube and finally found the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ca3vnzbErcIt was indeed Burroughs' voice, reading, I think, from 'Nova Express'. How wonderful that his writing has inspired such an interesting and important group at such an interesting and important time. I had last heard of Annoymous due to their campaigning against Scientology, for which they had initially adopted their 'V for Vendetta' masks: Alan Moore who wrote the Graphic Novel on which the V for Vendetta film was based said somewhere that he was rather pleased to have inspired the group in this way and indeed how it pleases me to see the work of both Moore and Burroughs become so relevant and inspirational to people who are playing such an important role in the ongoing struggle against tyranny.
This to me gives me the evidence I have long sought out, that Burroughs is indeed still directly relevant and inspirational to those looking for the way out of the 'big lie'- and are actually doing something about it- in society today, this very minute in fact...
