. . . huge event we are
having in Chicago on August 28th for the 50th anniversary of William
S. Burroughs' Naked Lunch 50th.
The event will both celebrate the book, and be a benefit for a new
documentary coming out about William S. Burroughs, titled "William S. Burroughs:
A Man Within."
The event will be hosted by Academy Award nominated actor Peter
Weller, and will be co-sponsored by Stop Smiling Magazine,
ThinkArt, and BulletProof films. It will feature "happenings" (from
Genesis P-Orridge, Penny Arcade and several beat scholars) a short
screening of
an extended trailer of the film, presenters, and reading from Naked
Lunch as well as a
nice reception.
“William S. Burroughs: A Man Within” features never before seen
footage of William S. Burroughs, as well as exclusive interviews with
his closest friends, and pioneering artists that were a part of his
life including John Waters, Genesis P-Orridge, Laurie Anderson, Peter
Weller, David Cronnenberg, Iggy Pop, Gus Van Sant, Sonic Youth, Anne
Waldman, George Condo, Hal Wilner, James Grauerholz, Amiri Baraka,
