"The Dying Fall" isn't in the volume of collected stories I have. Turns out it was written in 1994 and published in the April 1996 issue of Interzone. There used to be a scan of it on Rick McGrath's site, but he removed it. Google has a cache:

The following shorter doc is also well worth watching:

Plus on YouTube there's The South Bank show on JG Ballard, which is also pretty good.

Bea Ballard on her dad (just found this, haven't read it yet - sure it will be nice to get a different intimate perspective on the man from one of his 'miracles of life'):

Sad short story; sort of reminds me of The Unlimited Dream Company:

Nice review of his Collected Short Stories (you ever review this one, RS?)(thanks again for the copy, which is in my Netflix-like book queue):

I never reviewed it -- I gave you my review copy. (You're welcome.) I've had the UK edition for years and have only managed to read about a third of it. JGB's collected stories is one loooong volume.

Yeah, it sits on my bookshelf looking out imposingly at me. I'll get to it sometime. How did you manage to swing a review copy anyway? And thanks again for it, even if I did rip the bag it came in!

The review copy just showed up in the mail. I was slightly surprised -- maybe Ballardian told them to send a copy? On the other hand, between RealityStudio and Supervert, books do just materialize in the mailbox every few weeks or so. Once you get on the radar, things come in on the beam.

I think my copy will have to wait until Christmas, although I've still got The Unlimited Dream Company and The Crystal World from his list of novels waiting to be read.

For anyone that missed my post in the JGB quotes thread in the NL@50 sub-forum, Simon Sellars from Ballardian.com will have a book on 'Ballardian Philosophy' published by Zer0 Books some time next year. Not been mentioned on ballardian.com, I think, but it has appeared on his twitter feed.
