Here's the new pre-summer silly correlation from the media...They started diggin out all the stories that vaguely resemble zombie attacks. I'm already tired of the talks about that "zombie holocaust" in the buses, pubs and whatuvya.
The fact television and newspaper choose to emphasize on this type of aggression, which naturally occurs otherwise without being hyped up, is far more burroughsian than the actual news.
I agree that this obsession with "zombies" is idiotic and juvenile. It's ridiculous when the mass media tries to capitalize on strange occurrences by tying them into some pop culture phenomenon (i.e. isn't there some asinine tv series about zombie attacks going on now)?
Still, a naked man on designer drugs chewing off the face of a random stranger is rather extreme. It would have fit in well with the scene in
Naked Lunch where Benway's patients escape and rampage through town.
