Jed, are you familiar with Cheiro's Book of Numbers? Both Elvis and John Lennon owned it, and some sources claim Lennon became obsessed with it. That's part of the basis of the movie "27" from what I understand--although I've not seen it. Anyway, Cheiro claims that numerology CAN be used to predict lottery results. There is a section of the book in which he relates numerology to history that I found fascinating, not as a proof of the method but as a piece of writing that is brilliantly constructed.
