Anybody out there know about these guys? Legend has it they worked in audio production in Hollywood, editing out the verbal ticks and hiccups of the famous in interviews and sound bites. They started taking these outtakes and releasing them as spoken word in themselves. What is interesting is how the extralinguistic also has a distinctive signature sound.

They did one of Burroughs.

This is totally brilliant. I find the Burroughs one creepy -- like the gasping of a man dying or choking. I find the Marilyn Monroe one stimulating -- ahem.

I had an online solo exhibit a couple of years ago called Cat Got Your tongue where I did the same thing with recordings of Eliot reading his short stories Old Possums Book of Practical Cats. There is a pretty creepy video that someone has made of Sarah Palin where they have edited out all the words and just left the breaths and pops and clicks. It is in extreme close up too which makes it even more unsettling staring into her vacant, vapid eyes.
